Hou Hanru and Luigia Lonardelli bring together around thirty works by the Kosovan artist Sislej Xhafa, including early works from the 1990s through to a new piece purposely developed for the show. Arranged thematically, this exhibition offers an overview of the artist’s preoccupation with the political, social and economic complexities of our growingly interconnected, globalised world.

Sislej Xhafa (Pejë, Kosova, 1970) studied in the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. He has exhibited in leading international museums and participated in the Venice Biennial (1997, 1999, 2005, 2013), Istanbul Biennial (2001), Gwanju Biennial (2002) and Havana Biennial (2009). He is the recipient of the Premio Querini Stampalia – Furla for young Italian art in 2000, assigned in recognition of the formative years he spent in Italy and the resulting bond that ties him to the country. He now lives and works in New York.
