Valerio Nicolai’s solo show, curated by Marcello Smarrelli, offers a unique insight into the work of one of the most promising and significant emerging Italian artists of the recent years, Nicolai uses painting as a starting point for complex and dense constructions of meaning. In his works, painting, sculpture and environment blend seamlessly into installations that are complex and affecting. His pictorial work extends to the environment around the work, extending extensively into the field of sculpture, creating unusual and strange situations that surround and interrogate the spectator.
